One night, a neighbor, Mr. Tanaka, came to visit with his neighborhood association fee. The husband decided to have a light drink with Mr. Tanaka, and started to drink with him. He learned that Mr. Tanaka’s elderly mother had been admitted to a nursing home in the next town, and that he was now a single man living alone, and that daily life was difficult in many ways. As he spoke, the neighbor smiled wearily. The husband wondered if he could help out in some way, and suggested, “That’s right, Mr. Tanaka, if you don’t mind, my wife can come and help you on the weekends, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.”
